Let’s get down to brass tacks: A vegan and allergy-friendly snack is a treat that doesn’t include meat, eggs, or dairy or other animal-derived ingredients (which makes it vegan) and also doesn’t contain gluten, soy, or nuts.

When you take a peek at the vegan food scene, it’s hard not to miss the nuts included in many popular plant-based foods, including almond milk, cashew cream, nut-based cheeses, and other nut butters. That’s all fine and dandy—unless, of course, tree nuts or peanuts cause your body to go into full-on attack mode (or worse, anaphylactic shock) because of an allergy.

It’s totally possible to save approximately 200 animals per year as a happy, healthy, and completely nut-free vegan. It’s easier than you think.

Here’s a list of our favorite vegan and allergy-free snacks to give you a taste of the many companies that are adding such treats to their product lines.

U-LUV Cookies

Feel good about satisfying your sweet tooth with these bite-sized, allergen-free cookies from U-LUV. Find your favorite flavor: Brownie, Birthday Cake, Lemon, Ginger Spice, or Snickerdoodle.

Enjoy Life Protein Bites

Enjoy Life is basically the Holy Grail of allergy-friendly brands. The brand’s packaging is teal, which is the official color of allergy awareness. These scrumptious morsels are available in four flavors, including Dark Raspberry and Dipped Banana. They make a great post-workout snack.

We also love that the company indulges us with two lines of allergy-friendly cookies: soft baked and crunchy.

No Whey! Foods Chocolate Large Peanut Butter Cups

Peanot Butter Cups are made from allergen-friendly sunflower seeds, so you can have your cups and eat them, too.

MadeGood Granola Bars

True to their name, MadeGood bars are made from pure, whole ingredients. Choose from allergy-friendly Mixed Berry, Chocolate Chip, Apple Cinnamon, and Chocolate Banana flavors.

Daiya Chocolate Fudge Crunch Non-Dairy Frozen Dessert Bar

Feast your eyes on this coconut milk ice cream bar, which features a fudge ribbon and is dipped in dark chocolate and pumpkin seeds. (By the way, all Daiya products are allergy-friendly! Huzzah!)

We love all four flavors, but we’re especially addicted to the Vegan Caramel.
