In an episode of Years of Living Dangerously, a National Geographic Channel series, supermodel Gisele Bündchen was visibly shaken after seeing the vast deforestation of ancient Amazon rainforest land to clear space for cattle. In the clip below, Gisele cries when she realizes that the global meat industry is causing this destruction and that so many people play a part in it each time they sit down to the table to eat meat.

Her tearful response should be everyone’s reaction. Animal agriculture is directly responsible for 91 percent of Amazon rainforest destruction, with 136 million acres of forest already cleared and another one to two acres lost every second.
