WATCH: Sarah Jeffery Voices Gabby the Goose in New ‘Draw My Life’ Video

Meet Gabby.

She’s a goose who wants nothing more than to fly and swim and to meet and be loved by her mother. But because of companies like Canada Goose, she’ll never get to live the way nature intended.

This is the fate of hundreds of thousands of geese who are killed every year so that their feathers can be used to stuff Canada Goose jackets. In this new “Draw My Life” video, actor Sarah Jeffery tells Gabby’s life story, from birth until her throat is cut.

“There were thousands of us, peeping as loudly as we could. We all wanted one thing: our mothers. But none of us would ever meet them. I always wondered what mine might be like.”

A Canadian herself, Sarah previously spoke out against the company’s long history of abuse, misery, and cruelty to coyotes and geese in a “bloody” PETA ad. “[Animals] have feelings and personalities, just like humans do. They want to live. They don’t want to die,” she says in the campaign video.

“It hit me in that moment. All of this yearning, this desperate wish to explore outside our endless confinements—I would never get to do that. In my heart, I was a wild goose […] but my body had been turned into this … shell.”

In a PETA eyewitness exposé of a former Canada Goose down supplier, video footage reveals that workers rounded up panicked geese, grabbing and carrying them by the neck as they struggled with their entire weight hanging from their necks, and crammed them into densely packed cages for transport to slaughter. After a trip from the farm to the slaughterhouse lasting over five hours, geese watched, terrified, as others right in front of them were shackled and killed—until it was their turn.

“You’re being raised so that humans can take your feathers and stuff them into jackets. There are lots other ways for humans to keep warm, but some companies refuse to change—companies like Canada Goose.”
