Pizza chain California Pizza Kitchen (CPK) offers a variety of vegan options that are delicious and filling, and it even debuted its first plant-based meat option—vegan chicken! The announcement comes after several other chain restaurants—including KFC, Jack in the Box, and El Pollo Loco—launched vegan chicken options. You can try it on CPK’s BBQ “Don’t Call Me Chicken” Pizza—just order it without cheese and ask for either the Pizza Marinara or Spicy Marinara sauce instead of the BBQ base. Alternatively, add it to any of CPK’s veggie pizzas for an extra charge.
For your dining pleasure, here’s a list of more bountiful vegan options that CPK offers:
All of CPK’s pizza crusts are vegan except for the Cauliflower Crust. Hold any meats and cheeses and choose the Pizza Marinara or Spicy Marinara sauce. These pizzas are easy to order vegan, just by asking for no cheese:
- BBQ “Don’t Call Me Chicken”
- California Veggie
- Wild Mushroom
- Lettuce Wraps (Request it only with Chinese vegetables.)
- White Corn Guacamole + Chips

Course 2: The White Corn Guacamole ($4.99) is another vegan as-is menu item at @californiapizzakitchen. The long plate comes stacked with an American Girl-sized inverted bucket of coarse chopped jicama, bell peppers, cilantro and serrano pepper with whole black beans and juicy kernels of sweet corn in an avocado bind. ___________________________________ #CPKVegan #VeganGuacamoleinSanDiego
- Dakota Smashed Pea + Barley
Most salads at CPK can be made vegan by holding the meat and cheese and choosing either the lemon vinaigrette or the oil and vinegar.
- Roasted Veggie (no Dijon Balsamic)
- Grilled Veggie (Hold the cheese and aioli.)

Course 7: One of the best vegan dishes at @californiapizzakitchen is not on the menu. And that totally makes sense. Because the Spaghetti Marinara—gummy with golden garlic, sweet with pulpy tomatoes, and smokey from the flambe finish—was created for that most basic reason: because it tastes good. • It is unfiltered simplicity—free from test markets, focus groups, and profit reports. It is a subtle dish that one, untethered from the paradox of plenty, can find satisfaction in. __________________________________ #VeganCPK #CPKVeganHack #VeganPastainSanDiego
