Tennessee Abuser Charged After Authorities Found Starving Puppies Cannibalizing Dead Puppies

October 2003

PETA received a complaint about emaciated puppies found cannibalizing puppy carcasses in a filthy dog pen in Tennessee Ridge, Tennessee. A vet stated that one of the live puppies was “underweight, anemic from worms, had an ear infection, and was suffering from Rickets–a condition brought on by a lack of proper nutrition.”

We immediately called the district attorney and gave him the vet’s statement. He charged the abuser with cruelty to animals, and the surviving pups were seized and taken in by a local rescue group for care and rehabilitation.
