Ottawa Halts Trapping and Killing of Resident Beavers

November 2011 

In Ottawa, city officials were using cruel body-gripping traps and snares to kill beavers for flood-control purposes at Lindsay Pond. While local protesters “occupied” the pond (around the clock, at times), PETA educated officials about effective, humane beaver- and flood- management methods and alerted our members to the situation. The trapping initiative was halted, and officials are now exploring less cruel measures.
