High School Will Never Again Host a Donkey Basketball Game

November 2011

After receiving a letter from PETA, a high school in Seattle has made the compassionate decision never to host another donkey basketball game. During these fundraising events, participants must shoot a basketball into a hoop while riding donkeys. The donkeys are hauled across the country in cramped trailers to hundreds of games each year, with little to no exercise in between events. They are exposed to bright lights and loud noises, and they are often dragged, pushed, punched, and kicked by participants.
