Protesting ‘Coyote’ and ‘Goose’ to Hit Canada Goose–Sponsored Film Festival
PETA Will Screen Its Own Short Films: Gruesome Footage of Birds and Coyotes Suffering for Down Feather Filling and Fur Trim

What: PETA’s costumed “goose” and “coyote” will flank the red carpet on the opening night of the Toronto International Film Festival to call for the event to follow the lead of the Berlin International Film Festival and stop partnering with Canada Goose.
When: Thursday, September 6, 6:30–8:30 p.m.
Where: Reitman Square, 350 King St. W., Toronto
Throughout the festival, PETA—whose motto reads, in part, that “animals are not ours to wear”—will screen video footage of coyotes struggling in traps before hunters arrive to shoot them and workers at a Canada Goose down supplier rounding up terrified geese who piled on top of one another in an attempt to escape, resulting in suffocation and death. PETA’s mobile billboard—showing a man in a Canada Goose coat holding a bloodied goose and coyote—will also circle the Bell Lightbox building all week.
“All kind people should critically pan Canada Goose’s cruelly obtained fur-and-feather coats,” says PETA Executive Vice President Tracy Reiman. “PETA is urging Toronto International Film Festival attendees to turn their backs on Canada Goose until the company agrees to stop tormenting and killing geese and coyotes for its coats.”
