Tulsa, Okla. – As baseball fever sweeps the nation, there’s good news for animal-friendly Tulsa Drillers fans: ONEOK Field has landed the number two spot on PETA’s newest list of the Top Five Vegetarian-Friendly Minor League Ballparks. Delicious meat-free concession favorites include veggie hot dogs and vegetable crudités, and groups can purchase cilantro rice, cinnamon chips, and a black bean and corn medley. Not to be outdone, the catering menu boasts faux chicken tenders, a seasonal squash medley, and a delectable black bean burger.
“Tasty plant-based fare has put ONEOK Field on the map this year,” says Kenneth Montville, PETA’s senior campaign strategist. “It’s easier than ever to choose healthy animal-free options while cheering on teams across the country—and PETA is calling on others to get in on the rising trend now.”
The number one spot in the minors goes to the New Britain Rock Cats’ New Britain Stadium, and the Biloxi Shuckers’ MGM Park takes third place. Rounding out the top five are the Pensacola Blue Wahoos’ Pensacola Bayfront Stadium in fourth place and the Erie SeaWolves’ Jerry Uht Park in fifth. Top honors in the majors went to Dodger Stadium, home of the Los Angeles Dodgers.
ONEOK Field will receive a framed certificate from PETA—whose motto reads, in part, that “animals are not ours to eat.”
