Is Peanut Butter Vegan?

Published by PETA Staff.

Is peanut butter vegan? But of course! Most peanut butter is a simple mixture of ground peanuts and salt. Others might also contain oil or added sugar. Once in a blue moon, you may find a kind that contains honey, but nearly all peanut butter is 100 percent vegan.

Peanuts are rich in monounsaturated fats, which have been shown to decrease the risk of cardiovascular disease. They’re also packed with protein—just ¼ cup contains 19 percent of the recommended daily intake. Plus, peanut butter is divinely delicious. Now that you know it’s vegan, nothing can come between you and peanut butter heaven.
