P!nk Calls Out Haters and Speaks Up for Horses

Published by PETA.

Today, pop star P!nk encouraged her 26 million Twitter followers to join her in urging New York City Council Speaker Melissa Mark-Viverito to bring Intro 573—the bill to retire horses from the city’s carriage trade—to a vote. The new video that P!nk shared with the speaker and her fans reveals not only cruelty to horses but also carriage drivers who repeatedly use racist, sexist, and anti-gay taunts against anyone who shows concern for the animals stuck in Midtown traffic.

P!nk joins other notable supporters of Mayor Bill de Blasio’s bill to retire the horses, including Peter Dinklage, Alec Baldwin, Tim Gunn, Edie Falco, and Alan Cumming—who last week called on the city council to join other major cities in banning horse-drawn carriages from busy metropolitan centers.

What You Can Do

If you live in New York City, please send a note to your councimember urging him or her to vote for Intro 573, the bill to retire the horses.

If you don’t live in New York City, please urge Melissa Mark-Viverito, the city council speaker, to take action and move Intro 573 along.
