Kat Dennings would rather be a “broke girl” than wear fur. After seeing animal hides hanging in stores, she tweeted a message for designers that use fur:
Went shopping yesterday and was very sad to see so much real fur from so many different designers. Come on guys, it's 2014, that shit's over

In other celebrity news:
- Animal advocate Simon Cowell was just as surprised as everyone else to learn that Xtra Factor, the British version of The X Factor, had filmed a segment at a captive dolphin park. Simon quickly pulled the segment and reassured his fans:
Reading your tweets. I had no idea Xtra Factor producers filmed with dolphins. This will NOT be showed on Saturday.

I think you all know my view on cruelty to animals so thank you all for your concern.

- Now there’s another reason to like the hilarious Anthony Anderson. The star of ABC’s new comedy Black-ish says he’s also “vegan-ish” to help control his Type-2 diabetes without medication.

- Leave it to Moby to make people who don’t care about animals read an article about how the meat industry is destroying the environment, wrecking human health, and contributing to world hunger. Moby’s poignant Huffington Post article, with its cleverly worded title “Save the Humans,” should convince many naysayers. And for those who didn’t read the article, there’s always Moby’s Twitter feed:
An unsubsidized hamburger would cost around $20. Is subsidizing beef production the best use of our tax dollars?

Reading arguments from the pro-beef lobby makes me think of tobacco CEOs committing perjury before congress.

- PETA is trying to help Detroit Lions tight end Joseph Fauria out of a tight spot. He’s housetraining his new companion, Little Rufio. When he saw the pup getting into potty stance, Joseph tried to sprint down the stairs to usher the dog outside but fell and sprained his ankle. PETA sent both Faurias a get-well gift of a (pain-free) housetraining guide, treats for both of them, and Ingrid Newkirk’s book Let’s Have a Dog Party! to give Joseph some reading material—and some fun ideas for bonding with Little Rufio.
- PETA is ramping up our campaign to get the U.S. Department of Agriculture to seize captive elephant Nosey, who is still being forced to perform, despite her advancing age and chronic pain. Nearly 170,000 people have urged the government to save Nosey, and Olivia Munn asked her 623,000 Twitter followers to help:
Nosey the circus elephant needs our help. http://t.co/2NF0If6mga http://t.co/Gp8cNh551j #USDASeizeNoseyNow
