Joseph Fauria’s Sprained Ankle Prompts Get-Well Gift From PETA

For Immediate Release:
September 30, 2014

PETA is rushing a get-well gift to Joseph Fauria after he sprained his ankle while trying to housetrain his new puppy, Little Rufio. We’re sending him a housetraining guide full of tips for gently and kindly teaching puppies to do their business outdoors, along with a copy of PETA President Ingrid Newkirk’s book Let’s Have a Dog Party!, which is packed with suggestions for making your dog’s life the best it can be. We’ll also be sending him some vegan chocolates shaped like a dog to give him something to enjoy while he’s recuperating.

PETA—whose motto reads, in part, that “animals are not ours to abuse in any way”—encourages everyone to train dogs through positive reinforcement rather than abusive, frightening techniques such as violence and the use of choke chains.

“Almost all of us grew up eating meat, wearing leather, and going to circuses and zoos. We never considered the impact of these actions on the animals involved. For whatever reason, you are now asking the question: Why should animals have rights?” READ MORE
