Spring River Park & Zoo to Replace Bear Pits With Spacious New Habitats

PETA scored another victory in its fight to relegate bear pits to the history books! City councilors unanimously approved a plan to improve living conditions at the Spring River Park & Zoo in Roswell, New Mexico, after a vigorous PETA campaign. The zoo will be providing two bears and two mountain lions with spacious new habitats after having confined them to concrete pits for years. The zoo will also significantly improve conditions for ALL the animals in its care.
