After hearing from PETA, Reebok replaced the leather pieces on its otherwise vegan Cotton + Corn shoes with vegan leather. In recognition of its efforts to make kind and sustainable footwear, PETA is praising the company with an Innovator for Animals Award for the shoes, which are bio-based, petroleum-free, and fully vegan, thereby sparing cows extreme crowding and deprivation as well as castration, branding, and tail-docking—all without any painkillers. At slaughterhouses, their throats are cut and some animals are even skinned and dismembered while they’re still conscious. Please urge Levi’s to follow Reebok’s lead and replace its leather pieces with vegan ones.
