Country USA Music Festival Bans Goldfish Giveaways

After the president of Country USA – an annual music festival in Oshkosh, Wisconsin – heard from PETA that live goldfish were given away by a carnival booth at the 2006 event, he let the vendor know in no uncertain terms that live animal giveaways would not be tolerated: “It has come to my attention that Tip Top Amusements has been giving goldfish as amusement prizes at Country USA, a practice that we consider both cruel and inhumane. [P]lease be advised that Country USA will not allow its vendors to offer fish or [other] animals as amusement prizes.”
