Please see the following response from PETA Senior Vice President Kathy Guillermo to statements made by the New York Racing Association and Los Alamitos Race Course welcoming trainer Jerry Hollendorfer after he was banned from tracks owned by The Stronach Group:

The New York Racing Association and Los Alamitos Race Course are showing the world exactly what’s rotten in racing by welcoming Jerry Hollendorfer despite his ban from all Stronach tracks. PETA has a message for you: “The next horse Mr. Hollendorfer trains who dies will be on your record, not just on his, and on your conscience. His 16 separate medication violations, the six horses who were euthanized in California since December, and Gunmetal Gray’s leg fracture should be more than you need to do the decent thing. Your refusal to back those who are trying to prevent deaths is beyond disgraceful.”

PETA—whose motto reads, in part, that “animals are not ours to use for entertainment or abuse in any other way”—opposes speciesism, a human-supremacist worldview. For more information, please visit PETA.org.
