“Bloodless” Bullfight Canceled in Paris

January 2002

When PETA was alerted that a “bloodless” bullfight was to be held at the Stade de France in Paris, we immediately sent a letter to the president of the consortium of the large venue, explaining the inherent cruelty and barbaric nature of such events and asking that it be called off immediately. We also contacted the mayor of Paris to ask that he intervene. After hearing from PETA and receiving letters and e-mail messages generated by the Alliance for the Suppression of Bullfights, a local organization, the consortium canceled the bullfight and agreed never to hold such cruel events at the venue again.
