Lots of Love Connections at PETA’s Adopt-a-Thon
PETA’s Bea Arthur Dog Park was the place to be on Saturday, when nearly three dozen dogs from 11 shelters, including PETA’s, met their potential “forever families.” At last count (some vetting of possible adopters is still being conducted) at least one-third of the dogs found homes, including the oh-so-fine Mickey, whom PETA rescued from life on a chain.
Everyone who came—and lots did—had a great time. The weather cooperated, and there were food trucks, vendors, face painting, a Hampton Roads VegFest table, jazz music, and more. But the dogs were the stars of the show.

Spring is in the air, and adoptable dogs from 11 Virginia animal shelters are full of excitement as they prepare to strut their stuff for potential “forever families.” PETA is hosting the Spring Adopt-a-Thon and FUNraiser on Saturday, April 30. Along with adoptable dogs of all shapes and sizes, there will be loads of tasty vegan food, refreshing drinks, and canine camaraderie.
Our last two adopt-a-thons have matched numerous happy pups with their equally happy human peeps.
If you live in the Hampton Roads area, come out to find your new best friend or just to support the shelters that are helping homeless dogs find theirs. It’s three little hours that can make a big difference for dogs. And no matter where you live, make the mutture decision: Adopt, don’t shop.
