Say the word “Pesach,” and most people think of the freedom that the ancient Jews won after suffering the tyranny of bondage. Now, PETA wants to take that theme a step further by giving animals something to be thankful for on Passover, too. That’s why the group has created a special webpage devoted solely to delicious, time-tested vegan recipes for a beautiful Seder table that will have guests asking for seconds. The dishes include chopped “liver” spread, creamy pesto quinoa, Aunt Charlotte’s Carrot Tzimmes, sweet potato kugel, and many others, including always-popular chocolate chip cookies. If you really want your family and friends to sing your praises, be sure to serve them the unmatched chocolate matzo brittle.

“Passover teaches us to have compassion for all those who suffer, and that has to include the billions of animals raised and killed for food,” says PETA Executive Vice President Tracy Reiman. “Going vegan—at Passover or any time—is the kindest thing that anyone can do for animals, the planet, and their own health.”
