Help Animals by Selling on eBay

Looking for a fun and easy way to support PETA? Try sifting through your drawers, closets, and basement and pulling out everything you're not planning to use again. You may find valuables like jewelry, cell phones, or computers that you no longer want but that you don't want to throw away. While you may normally donate these things to Goodwill, this year, consider giving them to a cause close to your heart—donate them to PETA.

How? It's easy! I'm sure you have used, or are at least familiar with, eBay, the online site where you can sell or auction off all kinds of goods and collectible items. In an effort to give back to charities, eBay started its Giving Works program through Mission Fish, which allows sellers to donate a percentage of their auction earnings to PETA. This is how it works:

  • Whenever you list an item for auction on eBay, you can choose to donate between 10 and 100 percent of your earnings to PETA.
  • The item is then marked with a Giving Works ribbon indicating that proceeds from your sale will be going to a good cause.
  • When you donate 100 percent of your auction's earnings to PETA, eBay will waive all selling fees, making it completely free to sell your cast-offs in behalf of animals. After your items are sold, the donations will be sent to PETA, and you will receive a tax receipt—it's as simple as that!

Once you're done, enjoy your newly clutter-free house and the feeling of satisfaction knowing that the items you sold will be helping animals who may not be fortunate enough to have a place to call home. To sell or shop for items benefiting PETA on eBay, visit PETA's eBay Site.
