Wearing short red dresses and jaunty hats, PETA’s pair of sexy “Santas” will hit a busy Boise intersection this Tuesday to treat holiday shoppers to free soy nog and vegan kisses under the mistletoe. The duo will spread holiday cheer and encourage passersby to give comfort and joy to animals by leaving meat, eggs, and dairy foods off their grocery lists.

Where:           The corner of N. Eighth and W. Main streets, Boise

When:             Tuesday, December 22, 12 p.m.

“The best way to spread the holiday spirit of giving to animals is to leave them off the dinner table,” says PETA Executive Vice President Tracy Reiman. “PETA is encouraging kind people to keep the season merry and bright for all living beings by swapping meat and dairy foods for a delicious cruelty-free feast.”

As noted by PETA—whose motto reads, in part, that “animals are not ours to eat”—dairy foods and eggs are bad not only for the planet and animals but also for human health. Unlike soy or almond milk, cow’s milk contains no fiber and is full of saturated animal fat and cholesterol. Consuming dairy foods is also linked to heart disease as well as prostate, breast, and ovarian cancer.
