Leela the rabbit was once locked in a wire cage at Holmes Farm, a windowless warehouse and massive breeding facility that supplies animals to big-box pet-store chains. She was so sick that her left eye had become sealed shut with pus. But PETA was able to whisk her away to a veterinarian, and after lots of TLC, Leela bounced back with tremendous energy—just in time for PETA to throw her a celebratory Valentine’s Day party, complete with heart decorations and her favorite meal of greens and fresh raspberries.

Video of Leela’s transformation from warehouse prisoner to Valentine’s Day guest of honor is available here and more information is available here.

BUNNY1

Leela is now looking for that special somebunny to adopt her through PETA—whose motto reads, in part, that “animals are not ours to abuse in any way.” Anyone interested in adopting her should e-mail [email protected].
