Burlington, Ont. – A truck from the notorious Burlington slaughterhouse overturned this morning, with injured pigs—already crammed into the truck—given a nightmare jolt, causing further suffering. They are now being rounded up again to be killed. Reportedly, kind people are racing to the scene in the hope of rescuing any pigs they can find wandering the highway in order to save some lives.

Says PETA President Ingrid Newkirk, “The horror that puts bacon on the plate became evident today, as pigs—already scared and banged up—spilled onto the highway when a truck carrying them to their deaths in Burlington, Ontario, overturned. PETA asks everyone to spare a thought and spare a pig by turning away from bacon and ham, rather than turning away from what these animals endure every day.”
