This week, PETA U.K. received confirmation from the office of Xavier Dolan—the director of Adele’s “Hello” video—that the now iconic shaggy coat worn by the singer, which “launched a thousand Internet searches,” is 100 percent faux fur.

“This faux-fur coat is proof that it’s easy to look fabulous and stay warm without contributing to an industry which skins animals alive,” says PETA U.K. Associate Director Elisa Allen. “We have always known Adele to be a kind person who loves her dog and are thrilled that she’s part of the vast number of British women who wouldn’t dream of wearing real fur.”

Although the coat is a one-of-a-kind couture piece, compassionate fashionistas who want to get the look can opt for one of these chic vegan numbers from ShrimpsUnreal Fur, or Ainea. For more information, please visit PETA.org.
