As the community reacts to the story of Herbie, the turkey who escaped from a pickup truck in Moncton and ran for his life, PETA—whose motto reads, in part, that “animals are not ours to eat”—is offering free vegan starter kits to Canadians who’ve been inspired by his bid for freedom and want to try vegan recipes.

“Herbie’s brave escape shows that, just like humans, turkeys are living beings who feel pain and fear and don’t want to die,” says PETA Campaigner Emily Lavender. “PETA is offering free vegan starter kits and recipes at PETA.org—and urging Monctonians to try vegan meals this holiday season and all year long. Do it for Herbie’s brothers!”
