What:    Holding “dead geese” and a “dead coyote,” PETA members will gather for a spirited protest on Saturday outside Canada Goose retailer Due West.

When:    Saturday, November 18, 12 noon

Where:    Outside Due West, 431 Queen St. W., Toronto

The protesters will screen footage from a new PETA video exposé of a Canada Goose down supplier where workers rounded up terrified geese who piled on top of one another in an attempt to escape. At least one bird was apparently crushed to death, and others suffocated. Workers shoved surviving birds into cramped cages for a long journey to the slaughterhouse, where they were shackled and hung upside down and their throats were slit.

“Anyone who buys or sells a Canada Goose coat is responsible for the geese who were trampled, suffocated, and slaughtered,” says PETA Executive Vice President Tracy Reiman. “PETA is calling on shoppers to refuse to buy one of Canada Goose’s fur-and-feather coats and to choose vegan instead.”

PETA—whose motto reads, in part, that “animals are not ours to wear”—notes that Canada Goose’s coats are also trimmed with fur from coyotes who can suffer in traps for days before they’re shot or bludgeoned to death.

Broadcast-quality video footage is available upon request. For more information, please visit PETA.org.
