What:    Wearing little more than bodypaint and a faux-fur tail, a PETA “coyote” will struggle in a “bloody” leg-hold trap on top of a giant Canada Goose logo parody on Wednesday in downtown Québec City. The protest follows a PETA video—that has gone viral and juxtaposes Canada Goose’s coyote-fur jackets with disturbing footage of a trapped coyote suffering after being shot—and a new PETA exposé that revealed that birds were apparently crushed and suffocated at Canada Goose’s down supplier.

When:    Wednesday, November 15, 12 noon

Where:    At the intersection of Boulevard Charest Est and Rue de la Couronne, Québec City

“From geese who were trampled and suffocated to coyotes who struggle in traps until trappers strangle, shoot, stomp on, or bludgeon them to death, a fur-and-down coat is a spectacle of suffering,” says PETA Executive Vice President Tracy Reiman. “PETA is calling on shoppers to reject Canada Goose’s cruelty and shop vegan.”

PETA—whose motto reads, in part, that “animals are not ours to wear”—points out that trapped coyote mothers desperate to get back to their starving pups have been known to attempt to chew off their own limbs to escape. At Canada Goose’s down supplier, workers grabbed and carried birds by the neck and shoved them into cramped cages for a journey to the slaughterhouse, where they were shackled and hung upside down and their throats were slit.

Broadcast-quality video footage is available upon request. For more information, please visit PETA.org.
