Attention, compassionate fashionistas: Pammies, Pamela Anderson’s vegan shoe line, has added new shoes! The Mavericks Boots are available in beige and black, and are made in California with animal- and environment-friendly materials.
But that’s not all. She has also introduced The St. Tropez—adorable vegan suede flats that are also available in beige and black. These classics will go with anything!
A taller boot for more winter coverage is named The Cove Classic. The Pammies website description reads, “The synthetic suede consists of 100% recycled polyester fibers, produced by chemical recycling process that reduces the energy consumption and CO2 emission by 80%.”
Want to know why we avoid shearling, and think UGG boots are so ugly? Well, shearling is actually a sheep’s skin with the fleece still attached. Every year, millions of sheep are castrated and parts of their tails are cut off—often without any painkillers—before they’re finally slaughtered for their skin, which is what UGG boots are made of. They endure all that cruelty just for a pair of boots. It’s also considered “normal” in the Australian wool industry for approximately 3 million young lambs to die every spring.
Not only are wool and sheepskin items cruelly produced, they’re also bad for the environment. Wool production degrades land and pollutes the water supply.
Now that you have all the info, you can see why PETA pal Pamela Anderson is one busy—and compassionate—lady.
