Green Bay Packers tight end Jared Cook shocked the Internet after he allegedly received a severed chicken head with his order at Buffalo Wild Wings and tweeted out a photo:

In response, PETA is rushing him a basket of delicious meat-free wings to help satisfy his craving for a protein-packed post-game snack.

Chickens are arguably the most abused animals on the planet. In the United States, approximately 9 billion chickens are killed for their flesh each year. The vast majority spend their lives in total confinement—from the moment they hatch until the day they’re killed. Chickens are sensitive, intelligent animals who have the same ability to feel pain as dogs, cats, and humans, and the one whose head Cook discovered had probably been scalded to death in boiling water while still conscious.

More NFL players than ever are making the transition to plant-based eating, including Tyrann Mathieu, Colin Kaepernick, and Cook’s teammate Aaron Rodgers.
