Just What the World Doesn’t Need: Two More Dog Breeds

Published by PETA.

The American Kennel Club (AKC) seems to think of itself as an exclusive club, and it just added two more breeds to the list of dogs it considers “in.” But the AKC is a lot like another “club”… the KKK.

Like the KKK, the AKC believes in the sanctity of “pure bloodlines” and a “master race” (or master pedigree), and it promotes those misguided ideals at all costs. Inbreeding dogs to achieve “pure bloodlines” and selective breeding to produce the distorted physical features that are required by AKC’s “breed standards” cause many purebred dogs to suffer from debilitating, lifelong, and even life-threatening health problems, including epilepsy, blindness, heart defects, breathing difficulties, crippling hip dysplasia, and others. And of course, dogs produced by breeders will either take away a homeless dog’s chance at a home or end up homeless themselves.

Please reject canine bigotry: Adopt dogs from shelters, and always spay and neuter.
