Cruelty-Free Friday 2013: Holiday Shopping

This holiday season, it’s time to get into the cruelty-free spirit and urge others to do the same! We’re taking Fur-Free Friday, November 29 (the busiest shopping day of the year), to the next level and branding it Cruelty-Free Friday—the day when activists for animals around the country will encourage shoppers to buy cruelty-free gifts this holiday season.

There are more options than ever for cruelty-free gifts! A growing number of forward-thinking companies avoid animal products and testing on animals to make their beauty and personal-care products, such as soaps, perfumes, and makeup. Shoppers can help geese and ducks by purchasing luxurious down-free pillows and jackets, and feeling warm and fuzzy is easy when you buy natural fiber or synthetic sweaters instead of wool. You can also give the gift of style without hurting animals by opting for nonleather handbags and shoes and avoiding all fur. Other cruelty-free gifts range from silk-free ties to vegan chocolates, so there’s really something for everyone on your list.

Want to take part in the Cruelty-Free Friday festivities this year? Here’s how!

Encourage the throngs of holiday shoppers who converge on shopping centers the day after Thanksgiving to purchase only cruelty-free items. Check out the current event listings below to find a demo near you!

Can’t attend an event but still want to get involved? Spread the word about Cruelty-Free Friday and RSVP on Facebook!

Together we can make this Cruelty-Free Friday a big success!

“Almost all of us grew up eating meat, wearing leather, and going to circuses and zoos. We never considered the impact of these actions on the animals involved. For whatever reason, you are now asking the question: Why should animals have rights?” READ MORE
