Selena Gomez Launches PETA-Approved Cruelty-Free Beauty Brand

Published by .

Singer and actor Selena Gomez has broken into the cosmetics world with her new PETA-approved cruelty-free makeup line, Rare Beauty. The socially conscious brand embraces the beauty that comes with self-acceptance and is even giving 1% of all sales to help bolster mental-health services in underserved communities. Rare Beauty’s products are ethical, too—they’re all vegan and animal test–free. PETA welcomes the brand to our Global Beauty Without Bunnies database of more than 4,800 companies and brands that have banned all tests on animals, sparing mice, rabbits, guinea pigs, rats, and other animals a lifetime of suffering.

Rare Beauty’s products include high-quality basics meant to enhance your natural beauty, such as foundations and concealers that blend effortlessly, hydrating lip tints, and long-lasting eyeliner. The brand is available exclusively at Sephora, which recently banned mink eyelashes after pressure from PETA.

Fresh Face

Start off fresh with the Always an Optimist 4-in-1 Mist, which will hydrate your skin and prep it for makeup. Follow with the matching water-based gel primer for the perfect base.

The Liquid Touch Weightless Foundation is a medium- to full-coverage foundation available in 48 shades, so you’ll be sure to find the right one for your skin tone. Pair it with the Liquid Touch Brightening Concealer, and blend it all with the badger hair–free foundation brush and concealer brush.

You can then layer that with one of eight rich shades of liquid blush and an iridescent luminizer for a radiant, dewy look.

Pucker Up

For lips, the With Gratitude Dewy Lip Balm gives a sheer tint and tons of hydration, while the Lip Soufflé Matte Lip Cream gives full-color coverage that will last all day long.

Angelic Eyes

No makeup look would be complete without the brows, so grab the double-sided Brow Harmony Pencil and Gel and finish up with the Perfect Strokes Matte Liquid Liner.

Companies and brands that ban tests on animals help prevent animals from being confined to cages and subjected to excruciating procedures in labs. Always ensure that the brands you’re supporting are truly cruelty-free by buying vegan products and searching our Global Beauty Without Bunnies database.
