‘Cheese Dip’ Contest Prompts Vegan Cheese Giveaway

PETA Follows Ad Campaign With Dairy-Free Snacks That Leave Cows’ Milk for Their Calves

What:    Outside the World Cheese Dip Championship at the Clinton Presidential Center on Saturday, a group of PETA supporters will give away free samples of delicious vegan cheese made from nuts, soy, coconut, and other plants. The giveaway follows PETA’s ads on streetcar and bus shelters near the event’s venue that show a cow alongside the words “Do I Look Like Your Mother? Cow’s Milk Is for Calves. Dump Dairy. Go Vegan.”

When:    Saturday, October 20, 12 noon

Where:    Outside the Clinton Presidential Center, 1200 President Clinton Ave. (near the Arkansas River Trail), Little Rock

“With so many great vegan cheeses on the market today, it’s the perfect time to dump dairy,” says PETA Executive Vice President Tracy Reiman. “PETA aims to give World Cheese Dip Championship attendees a taste of how delicious being kind to mother cows and their calves can be.”

PETA—whose motto reads, in part, that “animals are not ours to eat or abuse in any other way”—notes that humans are the only species to drink milk beyond the age of weaning and to consume the milk of another species. In today’s dairy industry, calves are taken away from their mothers within hours or days of birth so that their mothers’ milk can be consumed by humans instead.
