PETA is showcasing that more than 80 cats were spayed and neutered at PETA’s hugely successful “Black Cat Day”—an annual event in which PETA’s low- to no-cost mobile clinics spay and neuter black cats for free in honor of Halloween—on Friday. Two “trick-or-treating” dogs also got in on the action.

“The goal of this event was to change cats’ luck, and we definitely succeeded,” says PETA Senior Vice President Daphna Nachminovitch. “Not only does sterilizing these lucky cats make them healthier—as altering eliminates the risk of developing types of reproductive cancer and reduces the risk of contracting contagious diseases—it also helps combat the homeless-cat epidemic.”

Anyone who’s interested in making an appointment for a cat or dog to be spayed or neutered can call 757-622-7382 and choose option 3. PETA never turns away anyone for lack of funds.
