Reward Reaches $2,100 in Sedgwick Cat-Shooting Case

PETA Joins Sedgwick Police Department in Search for Culprit or Culprits Who Shot Stray Cat Through the Neck With an Arrow

A stray cat was found on April 14 with an arrow shot through his neck, narrowly missing both his jugular vein and one of his eyes. The cat, now called Archer, was rushed to the Sedgwick Veterinary Clinic, where the arrow was removed. He is expected to make a full recovery and will be available for adoption soon—but police have yet to identify his attacker.

That’s why PETA—whose motto reads, in part, that “animals are not ours to abuse in any way”—is offering a reward of up to $2,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for this crime. This comes in addition to the $100 reward offered by the Sedgwick Police Department.

“This cat suffered the traumatic pain of being shot through the neck and is lucky to be alive,” says PETA Senior Director Martin Mersereau. “PETA is urging anyone with information about this case to come forward immediately, so that the attacker or attackers can be held responsible for their crimes—and before anyone else gets hurt.”
