A choir of PETA supporters wearing “ugly” Christmas sweaters featuring bloodied stuffed sheep protruding from the front and back will serenade shoppers at Market Square on Thursday, urging them to purchase only vegan clothing and gifts and never buy wool. Audiences will be treated to a delightful concert of classic Christmas carols with a twist—including “Violent Night” and “Rudolph the Vegan Reindeer.”

When:    Thursday, December 22, 12 noon

Where:    28 Market Sq., Pittsburgh

“Christmas and cruelty don’t mix, which is why sheep’s wool should stay off of everyone’s holiday shopping lists,” says PETA Executive Vice President Tracy Reiman. “PETA encourages everyone to deck their halls and their closets with cozy vegan fabrics and let retailers know that wool belongs only on sheep.”

PETA—whose motto reads, in part, that “animals are not ours to wear”—opposes speciesism, a human-supremacist worldview.
