Back-to-School in the Bag, Freebies to Nab!

The following is a guest post by PETA staffer Royale.

It’s August, and you know what that means—back to school! As far back as I can remember, I’ve always loved this month for that very reason. Not that I loved going back to school, but the shopping that commences just before one does so is, well, worth submitting to the semesters that follow. Although I graduated from college five years ago, I still go “back-to-school shopping”—hey, it’s nostalgic, and I’m practicing for when I have children of my own. So whether you’re heading back to the classroom or just want to honor tradition (hehe), you’re going to need a bag to carry you through until spring.

Some of you might be surprised to learn that millions of animals are slaughtered each year and turned into shoes, handbags, belts, and other accessories. With tons of fashionable and cruelty-free alternatives available, it doesn’t take a genius to realize that killing animals just ain’t smart. So don’t fail your animal friends this fall—go faux for all your back-to-school fashions.

Studious or studious, I’ve got just the satchels you’ve been searching for. Plus, two lucky winners have a chance to win my fabulous Navoh picks (this teacher’s playing favorites: the Christopher and Chambers) by leaving a comment below! Tell me what cruelty-free products you’d carry in your new bag—if there’s one thing that I like as much as accessories, it’s makeup!

Also I have my cell phone, which has a picture of my pet rabbit as my screen saver 🙂

  • Amber says:

Any time I buy any kind of beauty product I make sure it says “not tested on animals” or “cruilty free” on the package. Anything from shampoo, conditioner, styling products, all makeup, lotion, body wash, soap, chapstick, nail polish, etc.In my bag woulld have organic lotion, organic chapstick, a mirror, wallet (not made out of an animal), cell phone, and my keys. It really makes me sad what some companies are doing to these poor innocent animals just so people can look beautiful. People can look beautiful anyways without hurting and torturing animals.

  • Hannah says:

First off, all these bags are gorgeous! Id use them as a school bag during the week to carry my books because im studying to become a marine biologst and help save the marine animals that are dying in the oil spill, and on weekends these bags would be great for bringing with me everywhere! It would be great for taking my dogs to the park to play fetch, or meeting up with friends for drinks

  • Anne Mcknight says:

I would be giving my neice all cruelty free products because like me she is a true animal lover. I buy all my makeup from the Liz Earle collection and that would be an excellent choice to put into this bag for her. She is at college and would appreciate that very much.

Cruelty-free makeup (Almay, PurMinerals, etc), my linen wallet (that is 100% cruelty-free!), my Body Shop hand sanitizer, gelatin-free breath mints, and a photo of my most favouritest animal ever – my puppy Bauer, who is the most spoiled dog EVER. Thanks for this opportunity, Peta!!! 🙂

  • Jessica Lovegren says:

i’d be lugging around my yes to carrots chap stick. a bottle of water in my refillable aluminium bottle. and probably ten million other random stuff.

  • Mary says:

Basically I need a back to school bag, with pockets… Different pockets for all the different varieties of vegan chocolate I eat… (Isis Praline chocolate, hazlenut booja booja chocs and if i feel a particular sugar craving – vegan fudge! MMmmmm (SAVE THE COWS))
I prefer larger bags for the same reason… 🙂 But I do actually carry a lot of school stuff as I’m a teacher. So a back to school bag is a necessity for someone like me. It’d be good if there was one that could carry my PE kit in as well… including my vegan trainers (New Balance.
I dont think I really have any other requirements…

  • Alicia Pharo says:

I would carry my favorite ‘Say Yes to Carrots’ lip balm and hand moisturizer. And as much as I’d like to say that I would have an apple or something thrown in for the sake of healthiness, I would probably more likely have a ‘Sweet and Sara’ vegan smore treat stashed away 🙂

  • Kimberly says:

I’d keep some of my Rocky Mountain yummies in my gorgeous ‘Let Them Eat Cake’ Navoh bag. This amazing Canandian company only tests their fantastic products on the owners of the company.
