All the way what is used is great but it is very important to brush your teeth. Since, strawberry contains natural sugar. And the very ingredient which whitens the teeth “malic acid” can harm if left too long.

  • Suheir Kilani says:

To brighten teeth, mash up a ripe strawberry and dip the toothbrush in it – but be sure to rinse thoroughly, then using warm water to which a pinch of bicarbonate of soda has been added, to reduce acidity in the mouth.

Do you know chewing cheese stimulates the saliva flow which neutralises the harmful acids that decay or erode the teeth.

I’ve heard that the baking soda destroys the glaze of the tooth. So you need to use it once or twice a month.

I’m DEFINITELY going to be trying this. I’ve seen other home-remedy tooth whitening techniques but they usually involve gargling hydrogen peroxide, which seems downright dangerous to me.

I heard from my mom that a banana peel also works but as I dislike the very taste of nanas I am going to try this. Anyone know the best cruelty free baking soda??

  • Chelsea says:

Trader Joes also has baking soda.

  • Suzanne says:

Good to know. I am also thankful to hear about Arm & Hammer – I wasn’t aware that they tested on amimals. Shame on them! They have just lost me as a customer.

I have been trying baking soda and peroxide for weeks now with no results.

  • allie says:

Another great one I use and is so cheap is simply swishing hydrogen peroxide in your mouth. You can get it basically anywhere, its a dissinfectant but it has bleaching properties. It works great!

  • Dianne says:

Thanks! I’m going to try it

  • Jaime says:

will this whitener hold up if I make an amount wequal to a toothpaste tube?

  • Noelle says:

Important to note NOT to use Arm & Hammer, as they test on animals. Kind of defeats the purpose. Bob’s Red Mill makes baking soda.

Some fruits also act as a natural teeth whitening kits for example strawberry is a very useful teeth whitening fruit. Rubbing of strawberries on the teeth or brushing with toothpastes having strawberry contents help whiten the teeth to a great extent.

  • molly says:

is not how, when we have no strawberries in here?

  • Valerie says:

The most commonly available baking soda is by Arm & Hammer.

I have avoided it and Bon Ami (use regular salt as an abrasive cleaner for the home – test on a small part of surface first) for years.

You have to find a non animal testing baking soda.

Don’t use the strawberries too often – it can wear away at the enamel.

Unless Arm & Hammer has gone no animal testing.
