1 cup urad dal
3 cups boiled rice
Salt, to taste
Oil for greasing

• Wash the rice and urad dal separately and soak them separately for 8 to 10 hours.
• Then grind the rice and dal separately into a very fine paste.
• Mix the two together and add salt and let it ferment for a further 8 to 10 hours.
• Once the batter rises, it is ready for steaming.
• Grease the idli cups with oil and fill them with the batter. Steam for 10 minutes.
