Behind the Scenes of Hayes Grier’s Underwater Shoot

It’s no secret that Hayes Grier loves swimming in his pool, and we love the videos and photos that he posts about it! But imagine being trapped for years in a pool that’s way too small for you, separated from your friends and family, with nothing to do but swim in endless circles or perform “tricks”—all with no end in sight. It’s not so fun anymore.

When Hayes Grier found out about the abuse of bottlenose dolphins, beluga whales, orcas, and other marine animals at cruel parks like SeaWorld, he joined PETA and took action. Check out his anti-SeaWorld PSA and exclusive behind-the-scenes photos from our day at the pool.

Imprisoning intelligent, highly social animals like dolphins and whales in concrete tanks—where they’re denied everything that’s natural and important to them in order to entertain humans—is speciesist and wrong.

Speciesism is the misguided belief that one species is more important than another. You can join Hayes Grier in ending this prejudice by joining Students Opposing Speciesism (SOS) and connecting with student activists who are making a difference for animals. Be sure to follow the SOS movement on Instagram!
