We’ll Swap the Weight of an Escaped Steer in Vegan Beef for His Release!

For Immediate Release:
February 7, 2017

Below, please find a statement from PETA President Ingrid Newkirk about the steer who escaped from Hamilton Meats butcher shop on Thursday and whose whereabouts are currently unknown:

Like all of us, this steer values his own life, and anyone who makes a bid for freedom deserves a break. No animal should be hacked apart for brisket or burgers, and this one elected himself an ambassador for the rest—now with thousands of fans cheering him on to freedom. PETA is calling on Hamilton Meats to release him and send him to a proper sanctuary home—and PETA will gladly pay the cost of his transport, plus $1,000 worth of animal-friendly, humane, and healthy vegan beef for the farm in celebration of his safe passage.
