Although PETA’s special Spay Day spay/neuter event is booking up quickly, free appointments are now available for cats at PETA’s 12-hour Spay-a-Thon event on Tuesday, February 23.

All Spay-a-Thon surgical appointments for cats will be free. PETA’s special “Spay Day” pricing—$15 for cats, commemorating the 15th anniversary of PETA’s mobile clinics, and $35 for dogs, commemorating PETA’s 35th year of rescuing and speaking up for animals—will continue throughout the rest of February and March. Appointments are required and can be made by calling 757-622-7382, extension 3, or visiting PETA.org/SpayNeuter.

“PETA is celebrating milestones in the best way we know how: by preventing thousands of dogs and cats from being born into homelessness,” says PETA Senior Vice President Daphna Nachminovitch. “As animal shelters continue to turn away animals in droves, there’s not a moment to lose in addressing the overpopulation crisis.”

PETA—whose motto reads, in part, that “animals are not ours to abuse in any way”—offers low-cost spay/neuter services year-round. PETA’s fleet of mobile clinics has spayed and neutered more than 123,000 dogs and cats since 2001, including 11,929 in 2015.

“Almost all of us grew up eating meat, wearing leather, and going to circuses and zoos. We never considered the impact of these actions on the animals involved. For whatever reason, you are now asking the question: Why should animals have rights?” READ MORE
