This weekend, thousands of tourists at hot spots such as Mission Beach, Coronado Beach, and Pacific Beach will gaze upon a giant flyby banner that proclaims, in eye-catchingly bold letters, “SeaWorld Sucks!” The head-turning ad is just the latest volley directed at SeaWorld, as Southwest Airlines announced on Thursday that it’s ending its more than 25-year partnership with the controversial park. The ad will also direct beachgoers to PETA.org, where they can learn more about SeaWorld’s controversial capture and confinement of orcas.

PETA also made waves last week with its anti-SeaWorld graphic comic that went up in San Diego International Airport just as thousands of tourists began streaming in for Comic-Con.

The “SeaWorld Sucks” ad will be flying over the aforementioned beaches as well as La Jolla Shores and Ocean Beach on Friday, August 1, and Saturday, August 2, from 1 to 6 p.m.
