Coyotes are marvelously intelligent, loyal family-oriented animals who are merely trying to eke out an existence, and this lottery-style bounty program is a disgustingly ignorant witch hunt as well as a sly attempt to increase deer populations so that human hunters, who hunt for greed not need, can kill more “trophy” bucks. Offering cash rewards to kill coyotes is both cruel and ineffective, as more coyotes will simply move in from surrounding areas to fill the void left in the population, creating an endless cycle of killing. This makes the state look stupid, cheap, dirty, destructive, and unimaginative.
