PETA Statement on Recent Death of Horse in Carriage Industry

For Immediate Release:
March 4, 2015

“This new, mysterious horse death is the latest example of how this shady trade has no regard for regulations and must be banned. The Clinton Park Stables considers itself to be above the law. It’s home base to the driver implicated in falsifying records in order to keep a sick old horse working and to a driver who ignored the police’s call to bring in all horses on a scorching hot day. It’s also where a driver was arrested for forcing a horse to work for several days with a painful leg injury. The city council must move on Mayor Bill de Blasio’s legislation to rid the city of this reckless, cruel little business, as has been done in other major cities around the world.”
