As predicted, stunt performer Steve-O has landed in hot water after releasing a video that showed him altering a San Diego highway sign to make it proclaim, “SeaWorld Sucks.” Today, PETA (whose motto reads, in part, that “animals are not ours to use for entertainment”) contacted the star to make good on our promise to arrange to pay his reported $239 fine, and he has now accepted our offer to have PETA staffers cover the cost of his citation as soon as he receives it.

“Everyone knows that SeaWorld sucks, from Steve-O to the Consumerist voters who named SeaWorld one of the worst companies in America,” says PETA Senior Vice President Lisa Lange. “PETA hopes that Steve-O’s envelope-pushing stunt will inspire kind people around the world to speak out against SeaWorld’s cruel orca prisons every chance that they get.”
