Pembroke Pines, Fla. – It’s time for PETA to name this year’s Sexiest Vegan Next Door—and Pembroke Pines resident Aisha Thalia might just take home the title. She beat out hundreds of other entrants from across the U.S. to become one of 10 female contestants to advance to the final round. Visitors to can now help PETA decide whom it should pick as the two lucky winners—one male and one female—who will each receive a free vacation for two to Maui, Hawaii, courtesy of Humane Travel.

“All of PETA’s finalists are as attractive on the inside as they are on the outside, thanks to their decision to choose meals that are kind to animals, the planet, and their health,” says PETA Executive Vice President Tracy Reiman. “On average, vegans are fitter and trimmer than meat-eaters are—and of course, they spare the lives of more than 100 animals every year.”

Eating delicious vegan meals is an easy choice for Thalia, who says that her low energy, anemia, and even early signs of cervical cancer vanished after she made the switch. A model, actress, part-time teacher, and full-time mom, Thalia is always spreading the word about delicious vegan food to her hundreds of thousands of followers on social media. And she’s never afraid to get down and dirty for an animal in need: When some of the children in her class began throwing things at a bedraggled stray puppy, she was quick to scoop up the dog and whisk her to the vet—and later to a loving new home with a family friend. Thalia also volunteers with local women’s groups, helping other moms find affordable, healthy vegan snacks that they can share with their children.

Voting for the finalists to help PETA determine who it should select as the winners ends at noon EDT on May 1. PETA will select the winners based on several factors, including vote count. See the full contest details here. Winners will be notified and announced by May 6.

“Almost all of us grew up eating meat, wearing leather, and going to circuses and zoos. We never considered the impact of these actions on the animals involved. For whatever reason, you are now asking the question: Why should animals have rights?” READ MORE
