A one-of-a-kind signed hardcover copy of Autobiography by Morrissey—and the only copy of the full-color hardcover that has been signed by the author—has been listed on the auction website eBay. Morrissey donated the unique item to be auctioned off to benefit PETA U.K.

Steven Patrick Morrissey was born in Manchester on May 22, 1959. A singer-songwriter and the cofounder of The Smiths (1982-7), Morrissey has been a solo artist for 26 years.

He’s had 11 top 10 albums (plus nine with The Smiths), and his songs have been recorded by David Bowie, Nancy Sinatra, Marianne Faithfull, Chrissie Hynde, Thelma Houston, My Chemical Romance, and Christy Moore, among others.

An animal protectionist, Morrissey famously titled The Smiths’ 1985 album Meat Is Murder, and he’s still playing the title track live on tour. It has been said, “Most pop stars have to be dead before they reach the iconic status that Morrissey has reached in his lifetime.”

Autobiography covers Morrissey’s life from his birth until the present day.

The full-color hardcover edition was published by Penguin Classics on December 5.

The auction is open internationally, and shipping is free. To view the auction and place a bid, please click here.
