Black Friday shoppers are getting a special message from actor Alicia Silverstone, who has teamed up with PETA in a radio spot exposing the hidden cruelty behind the wool industry and encouraging consumers to cross wool items off their shopping lists this holiday season.

“Think shearing sheep for wool is just like a haircut? As if!” Silverstone proclaims in the spot. “In the wool industry, workers have been videotaped punching, kicking, and stomping on sheep—and 90% of sheep are killed once their wool production drops.”

PETA U.S. and other PETA entities have extensively documented cruelty to sheep in 117 wool industry operations worldwide, revealed in 14 separate exposés. Even on “sustainable” and “responsible” farms, workers have beaten, wounded, and slit the throats of conscious, struggling sheep. Not only do vegan options spare sheep such terrible suffering, they’re also better for the environment.

Silverstone urges listeners to “embrace fabrics that are comfortable, innovative, and cruelty-free,” such as those on PETA U.S.’ list of “Wool-Free Sweater Picks That Alicia Silverstone Would Love.”

The vegan actor previously appeared in sky-high anti-wool and pro-vegan messages for PETA, among numerous other campaigns. She’s part of a long list of celebrities—including Jenna Dewan, Taraji P. Henson, Olivia Munn, and P!nk—who have helped PETA promote kind, animal-free wardrobe choices.

The spot will run on iHeartRadio station WKSC-FM from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. through Cruelty-Free Friday (aka “Black Friday”) as well as in Philadelphia; Syracuse, New York; and Minneapolis (home of the Mall of America).

PETA—whose motto reads, in part, that “animals are not ours to wear”—opposes speciesism, a human-supremacist worldview. For more information, please visit PETA.org or follow the group on Twitter, Facebook, or Instagram.
